This photo series was shot in April 2005 on one of the earlier digital cameras, it was a Sony DSC-F828.
Not a great camera but quite good for it's time.
In fact, it was the first digital I ever bought after being dedicated to film for all my life.
I am going to provide a colour and a black & white version of each shot to hopefully cater for lovers of both.
However this blog is more about the individual shot, what I was trying to capture and of course, why, rather than the camera or anything too techy.
As a child my family moved around a lot, from England to Australia and also across nearly every state in Australia. As such, I was nearly always the "new kid", the Pommy with the milky white legs.
It's my memories of so much travel and mobility that attracted me to this subject, just looking at this boy made me recall how I always felt a little lost, confused and never too sure how long I would be in my current town or school.
His positioning and face were just saying to me he was a little lost, happy, but full of curiosity regarding what he was looking at.
Then to cap it all off, he turned around and looked backwards, this once again really connected with me.
Always looking in different directions and asking what was next.
Am I over emotionalising it?
I don't think so. A good photo that pleases you should mean something and have a story, emotion or passion attached to it.
I would argue that if any shot you take does not have this tangent attached, then it's probably more a snapshot rather a worthwhile piece of photographic art.
Feel free to agree or disagree, that's why this blog is here.
I will be doing these Photo Talk blogs on a regular basis focused more on the art and emotion of the specific shot or shots I choose.
Until next time....................
